FreeBSD 8.2

After reading this http://www.over-yonder.net/~fullermd/rants/bsd4linux/01 , I am planning to give a chance to FreeBSD.

Let see how it goes and how long i will stay with this.

Okay here is the update

1) FreeBSD will install base system first and rest of the system is up to you to how to install. Installation is quite fast and meant for expert only. BSD require primary partition to be install.

2) pkg_add is very similar to apt-get

3) porting system is one of the benefit which i see over Debian GNU/Linux.

4) Installing X is not very straight forward, it require some knowledge of *nix system and X.

5) Installation process is quite old as compare to today's Linux* , it reminds me my old days when i installed Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 (Woody; If i remember correctly).

Since i am using updated version of slime, emacs, gnus and stumpwm so i am not worried about either Gnu/Linux or BSD.

People claims that BSD is suppose to faster on Old box, I really need to look into this , if this is true then i might buy a DSLR instead or buying Computer.
